Georgina has more than 25 years of insurance litigation experience across Victoria and the United Kingdom, with deep institutional knowledge of statutory schemes from her work in senior roles inside WorkSafe Victoria and the Transport Accident Commission.
Biography
Georgina acts for WorkSafe Victoria, its authorised insurers and employers, and the Transport Accident Commission across the Victorian workers compensation and personal injury jurisdiction.
She brings to those engagements a perspective shaped by seven years in-house at WorkSafe Victoria as Senior Legal Counsel in the Dispute Management Division, where she managed the authority's authorised insurers and administered the compensation scheme. That institutional knowledge directly informs how she approaches claims strategy, liability analysis and scheme engagement on behalf of her clients.
Her practice covers defendant common law damages and statutory compensation litigation and advice under the Accident Compensation Act and the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act, across the full range of personal injury claim types. She manages complex and sensitive psychiatric injury matters, personal injury proceedings, administrative law disputes and advisory work for self-insured companies and statutory authorities.
Her caseload spans complex statutory and common law compensation claims, including disputes over entitlements, liability for psychiatric and physical injuries and administrative law matters before the County Court, Magistrates Court and VCAT. She also carries a significant portfolio of psychiatric injury claims, managing proceedings that require careful handling of both legal strategy and the sensitive subject matter involved.
Georgina's seven years in-house at WorkSafe Victoria as Senior Legal Counsel in the Dispute Management Division sets her apart from most practitioners in the defendant workers compensation market. That background gives her a working understanding of how the authority administers the scheme, what it expects from its legal panel and how claims are evaluated internally, knowledge that is difficult to replicate from private practice alone. She also draws on experience in insurance litigation in the United Kingdom, where she was admitted to the Courts of England and Wales before relocating to Australia.
