Nick specialises in insurance litigation and workplace injury claims for WorkSafe Victoria and its insurance agents, with particular expertise in workplace fatalities, judicial review proceedings and industrial exposure claims.

Biography

Nick acts principally for WorkSafe Victoria and its insurance agents, with a broader practice extending to self-insured employers across workers' compensation and common law personal injury matters in Victoria.

His practice covers defendant insurance litigation across statutory benefits and common law negligence claims, with senior carriage of the most serious and sensitive matters in the portfolio. He advises on liability for workers' compensation claims, acts in common law trials involving complicated negligence and multi-party issues, and manages claims involving workplace fatalities, mental injury, suicide and occupational disease.

His caseload includes complex insurance litigation at all levels of the Victorian courts, including the Court of Appeal, and in the Supreme Court on judicial review applications. The matters he carries are consistently among the most legally and factually demanding in the workers' compensation jurisdiction, involving novel liability questions, high exposure and significant reputational considerations for scheme clients.

Nick's practice is defined by concentration on the highest-exposure work in the workers' compensation portfolio: fatalities, judicial review, mental injury and occupational disease. These are the matters that require the most experienced handling, and his track record across all levels of the Victorian court system reflects the trust WorkSafe Victoria and its agents place in his carriage of their most difficult files.
